Cloisonné Sand Art

🎨 A Modern Take on a Traditional Chinese Craft

✨ Cloisonné enamel, also known as Jingtailan, is one of China’s most treasured intangible cultural heritages. Originating in the Yuan Dynasty and flourishing in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it earned the name “Jingtailan” after reaching artistic excellence during Emperor Jingtai’s reign.

Traditionally, cloisonné involves outlining intricate designs with fine metal wires and filling them with colorful enamel, then firing them at high temperatures to achieve a glassy, gem-like finish. 🌟 Once reserved for imperial courts, this craft is known for its complexity, elegance, and rich palette—an embodiment of Eastern aesthetics.

🧡 Here in our studio, we bring this heritage craft to life through a modern, hands-on experience. While we don’t use high-heat enameling, our version preserves the beauty and core techniques of cloisonné in a way that’s safe, creative, and beginner-friendly!

In our Cloisonné Sand Art workshop, you will:

1️⃣ Choose from our pre-designed patterns or bring your own sketch ✍️

2️⃣ Trace the design onto a metal base 📜

3️⃣ Shape elegant patterns using golden wire 🌀

4️⃣ Mix colored sand with UV resin to fill in the design 🌈

5️⃣ Use UV light to quickly set and finish your piece 🔆

✨ This updated technique replaces traditional enamel with UV-set resin and vibrant sand—allowing for rich colors, texture, and creative freedom, all without the need for firing. It’s a perfect blend of cultural tradition and modern craft, making cloisonné more accessible than ever.

🎁 Whether you’re a craft lover or a complete beginner, this experience offers a unique opportunity to explore Chinese artistry in a fun and meaningful way—creating a one-of-a-kind piece that’s truly yours.
